Crafting Heritage:

Sustainable Wine Label Design Rooted in California’s Pioneering Spirit

Comprehensive Wine Label Design, Marketing Strategy & Packaging Design for a Wineries Debut Collection

When the winery approached us to create their very first wine labels, we knew this wasn’t just a graphic design project, it was an opportunity to establish a brand legacy that would resonate with wine enthusiasts for generations. Our comprehensive approach combined strategic marketing strategy, innovative packaging design, and compelling graphic design to launch their debut collection of 12 varietals.

The Challenge:

The winery needed more than beautiful labels; they needed a cohesive brand identity that would communicate their values, heritage, and commitment to quality across every bottle. Located in Penryn, California, an area with deep agricultural roots dating back to the Gold Rush, the winery wanted to honor the region’s pioneering spirit while establishing themselves in today’s competitive wine market.

The Solution:

Our graphic design solution centers around a subtle topographic pattern (as pictured in the background here) a visual tribute to the terroir that shapes every vintage. This isn’t just decorative; it’s strategic packaging design that communicates the winery’s deep connection to their land while creating instant brand recognition on crowded retail shelves.

The label design honors tradition while setting a refined tone for the brand’s future. Every element was carefully considered, from typography that feels both classic and contemporary to a color palette that speaks to quality and sophistication.

Beyond aesthetics, our packaging design prioritizes sustainability, a core value for the winery. The labels are printed on specialty material that makes them easy to remove, allowing both bottles and labels to be recycled and reused.

Bringing Brands to Life

These ads were part of a brand launch for a Northern California winery entering one of the country’s most competitive wine markets. With the team focused on opening a tasting room and launching a delivery service—and nearly no budget—I stepped in to craft a campaign that built intrigue and buzz. A high-production, Yellowstone-style ad with a celebrity spokesperson was off the table, so I took a scrappy, strategic approach: meticulously sourcing and stitching together stock footage to create bold, cinematic ads that delivered big impact on a shoestring budget.
